Columbus, Ohio (January 25, 2005) – The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK), a consortium of 84 academic libraries and the State Library of Ohio, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Murray as assistant director of library systems, multi-media databases.
Before joining OhioLINK, Murray worked at the University of Connecticut, where he was the Assistant to the Library Director for Technology Initiatives. From 1991-2000, he served as Library Systems Manager at two OhioLINK member schools, Miami University and Case Western Reserve University. Murray holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, Boston and a master’s in systems analysis from Miami University, Ohio. He currently resides in Dublin, Ohio.
At OhioLINK, Murray is responsible for managing the Digital Media Center (http://dmc.ohiolink.edu/), which houses thousands of multimedia assets, many of which are available freely for worldwide use. He is also responsible for the development of the Digital Resource Commons, a content management service and repository that will support storage, distribution, publication, and long-term preservation of the educational and research materials of participating institutions. In addition to housing OhioLINK’s multimedia collections, the Commons will have the capability of hosting a virtually unlimited variety of digital files including faculty research papers, Open Access self-archiving and publishing endeavors, student theses and dissertations, and course materials and learning objects.
