How to Locate a Particular Publication
Use these resources to find where a specific publication is
available:
A Book
- Search your library's catalog
by title, author, or ISBN.
- Or, search the OhioLINK catalog. Click
"x OhioLINK libraries have this item" to see where the book
is owned. Click REQUEST THIS ITEM to have the book sent to
you.
- If neither catalog has the specific book you want,
contact the Interlibrary Loan department of your
library.
A Journal
- To see if OhioLINK has electronic access, look in the Electronic
Journal Finder, which is a listing of journals available
electronically through various OhioLINK databases. This
listing will direct you to a database.
- Your library may have its own list of electronic
journals.
- If you can't find the journal in these sources, search your library's catalog by journal
title or ISSN to see if they hold the journal in print,
microform, or electronic.
- To see what other libraries subscribe to a journal, check
the OhioLINK
catalog. Click "x OhioLINK libraries have this item" to
see where the journal is owned.
A Specific Journal Article
- Look for the print or electronic journal as described
above. Be sure to check the location and format of the
particular date or volume/issue you need.
- Or, choose a database by subject, search the article, and
look for links to electronic full text.
- In most databases, the link Find a Copy uses
standard protocols to look for electronic full text in other
sources, including other OhioLINK databases and library
e-journal subscriptions. It also indicates whether your own
library subscribes to the journal in print or
electronically.
- If you cannot find the article in any format, contact the
Interlibrary Loan department of your library.
A Videotape, Sound Recording, or other Audiovisual
An Electronic Media File (digital picture, audio, video,
etc.)
An Electronic Book
Check with the reference librarians
at your library. They have information about the services
of your own library and further recommendations on appropriate
sources (electronic or print) to meet your information
needs.
