Statement of Purpose
The Acquisitions Community of Interest (COI) is intended to bring together acquisitions librarians and those assigned acquisitions duties to discuss, analyze, and recommend best practices concerning Acquisitions. In particular, the Acquisitions COI will examine acquisitions issues, current trends in the field, and best practices for acquisitions workflows, record infrastructure, fund hierarchies, and budgetary analyses. The Acquisitions COI will support and supplement the E-resources Implementation Team in providing collaborations between e-resource management, usage, and cost analysis, and with the Database Improvement and Discoverability Team in providing collaboration between local systems and database integrity with respect to order and vendor record best practices. This group will also provide a space to bring together individuals at OhioLINK institutions who are new to acquisitions and those with a wealth of acquisitions experience to share their insights and innovations.
The goals of the Acquisitions Community of Interest include:
Holding quarterly virtual meetings to discussion issues, trends, best practices • Holding one yearly workshop, possibly in collaboration with the E-resources Community of Interest, centered on a particular topic (e.g. Acquisitions analytics; data dictionaries for Order Records; streamlining acquisitions workflows) • Discussing tools and technologies to enhance acquisitions workflows and data gathering • Investigating integrations with other systems, such as OCL Connexion, ILLiad, ERMs • Compiling documentation, tutorials, references related to Acquisitions • Mapping acquisitions and fund management activities • Identifying how acquisitions data and information is used in various workflows throughout technical services, collection management, and library assessment
