How TOC Errors Are Handled

Table of Contents records add contents information – chapter titles, authors, and paging – in 970 fields to catalog records in a batch process. TOC records are loaded to the Central Catalog and to self-selected local catalogs.

In Central, the 970 fields are preserved in the master bibliographic record, even if record ownership changes.  For local load, the contents fields are passed from the central site to local sites.

The Central Catalog is not subject to manual editing, either by OhioLINK central staff or by library staff. TOC errors in Central are therefore not usually corrected. Innovative has agreed to delete 970's that belong to a totally different book.

Libraries that load TOC records can correct errors in their own records.

Send TOC errors to the error reporting list, so that libraries can correct their own records. If the TOC is attached to the wrong book, OhioLINK will send the report to Innovative.
