The Columbus State Library strives to follow the school's mission to educate and inspire, providing their students with an opportunity to achieve their goals.
OhioLINK spoke with the Columbus State Community College library director to discuss the commitment Columbus State Library has to serving the community, their patrons and their students.
What are your three points of pride for your library?
- Our friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff.
- Redesigned front entrance to the building. The main entrance used to bring people in on a landing area between the first and second floor. Now the entrance brings people right in on the first floor. And we have a wonderful amphitheater right outside our entrance that provides seating for individuals and groups.
- The Learning Center at our Delaware Campus. We've been able to take our vision and values and apply them to a brand new location when the college opened a new campus in Delaware County. The Learning Center combines library services and our librarians with the technology support provided by the IT department. Our partnership with the Delaware County District Library allows us to provide a selection of popular material for browsing and check-out.
What is the most popular spot in your library for students and patrons?
It's really difficult to say what is most popular because so many areas in the building are heavily used. The first floor fills up quickly with the students who like to talk while they work and make use of the group study rooms. The second floor computers are always busy with students who want to get work done while taking advantage of the expertise and assistance of the reference staff. The third floor is a haven for those seeking a quiet space to study on their own.
