Alma Specto “Starter Introduction” & “Next Steps” webinars, June 23 & 25

As part of the OhioLINK Ex Libris package, many libraries implemented Alma Digital, which is becoming “Alma Specto Starter.” Ex Libris will discuss how to make the switch to Specto Starter and prepare for a smooth transition, with Q&A, at 11am on Tuesday, June 23. Register here. If your library has already switched to Specto Starter, Ex Libris will look ahead to what’s next, with time for Q&A or feedback, at 11am on Thursday, June 25. Register here.

Canceled - June 24 Alma, Primo VE, and Rapido office hours

Office hours will be cancelled this week (6/24) due to an unexpected scheduling conflict. We’ll return to the normal schedule (Wednesdays, 10-11am) next week for July 1.

Open discussion on the state of tutoring, June 24, 12PM

OhioLINK eTutoring will host a second moderated open discussion on the state of tutoring this Wednesday on June 24, 12-12:45 PM. All tutoring center coordinators/student success administrators are welcome to participate. Please forward this information to anyone at your institution who may be interested. Institutions do not need to be part of the OhioLINK eTutoring program to participate. Hear what is happening at other institutions, share insights, and raise questions or concerns for discussion among peers. Thank you to Leah Baumhauer of Edison State for agreeing to moderate again. Ex Libris July update release notes posted

The next regular update of Ex Libris products is scheduled for July 5, 2026. Updates to all Ex Libris products will be made in all OhioLINK library IZs on that date. The release notes for the upcoming changes are now available on Ostaff. To keep track of release information, product roadmaps, and known issues, there is a new page now on Ostaff.

Primo NDE Basecamp

A new OhioLINK Primo NDE Basecamp is open to any staff from member libraries who want to learn and support one another as we implement NDE. If you’d like to join, send an email to support@ohiolink.edu with your name, email address, and institution name. Light moderation will be provided by OhioLINK staff and the Primo NDE project team.

Wiley Open Access Publishing changes for 2026

OhioLINK’s Wiley Open Access (OA) journals publishing agreement is expected to reach its annual limits in 2026. To avoid potential issues due to changes in Wiley’s procedures, OhioLINK is taking additional steps in 2026 as limits are reached. As of July 1, new APC coverage requests in Wiley’s fully OA journals can no longer be approved. Limits are expected to be reached in Wiley’s hybrid journals as early as this summer. See the Wiley OA update page for librarians for details. OhioLINK is communicating about these changes in greater detail to Directors, CIRM, and ERIT. Info Hub: consortial merge rules

Documentation has been added to Info Hub for consortial merge rules.

The announcement also went to the DIAD and Leads listservs and was posted on the Cataloging Long Term Project Team (LTPT) and Project Leads Basecamps. Please direct questions to your DIAD rep, Lead Implementor, or Project Lead.

OhioLINK office closing/holidays added to Ostaff

OhioLINK has added a list of annual office closings/holidays to the Ostaff General Support page. The OhioLINK calendar can also be consulted with any questions about specific dates.

FirstSearch/WorldCat Discovery changes

OCLC has recently communicated that due to changes by British Library, the OCLC WorldCat Discovery product team has removed British Library data from the FirstSearch/WorldCat Discovery central index as of June 15. This includes:

  • PapersFirst: This database will be completely removed.
  • ProceedingsFirst: This database will be completely removed.
  • ArticleFirst: Only the British Library partition of this database will be removed

Join the Ex Libris GLUG Listserv

The Great Lakes User Group (GLUG) is working to reignite activities and participation with monthly meetups and other networking and professional development opportunities. Join the GLUG listserv to keep up to date on forthcoming meetings, ask questions, and share relevant activities for Ex Libris users in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana. A meetup to discuss Alma Digital/Specto/Specto Starter is planned for June. Details to come.
