Webinar: Ex Libris Library Open Workflows, Sept 29, 2PM

Library Open Workflows (LibOW) is a no-code/low-code automation tool to help create integrations with Alma. This Ex Libris webinar for OhioLINK libraries will cover an overview of how LibOW works and what kinds of automations it can create. LibOW is a subscription add-on to Alma that is not included in the base OhioLINK Alma contract. We won’t address cost. Please register for the LibOW webinar on Tuesday, September 29 at 2pm. It will be recorded and posted on Ostaff.

Webinar: LibKey Update and New Features, Sept 30, 3PM

Please register to join Third Iron presenters at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30 for a LibKey product update webinar for OhioLINK member libraries. Topics will include recent enhancements across LibKey and BrowZine, including expanded retraction notifications, their latest AI integrations to connect researchers from AI-driven discovery environments back to the library’s content, and how LibKey works with gen-AI platforms. Although researchers increasingly begin their work in AI platforms, these integrations help ensure the library remains central to the research process. Finally, Third Iron will preview their product roadmap and coming integrations, workflow enhancements, and new opportunities to increase library impact and usage across the user community.

Innovative catalog redirects and other support changes, Sept 30

September marks one year since we “switched to support” with Alma, Primo, and Rapido. Please be aware of the following changes that will take place in September:

  1. Innovative catalog redirects end on September 30. Until then, all links to the OhioLINK Central Catalog redirect to this page. Action Needed: review your LibGuides and web sites to ensure that links to the OhioLINK Central Catalog (http://olc1.ohiolink.edu) are removed or updated. Communicate this to faculty and staff as needed.
  2. References to the Central Catalog will be removed from the public OhioLINK.edu web site. Library users looking for library materials will be instructed to use their institution’s library to find OhioLINK shared resources.
  3. The Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and Rapido Basecamps will be taken offline. Action Needed: Review Basecamps and save local copies of files and information that you want to retain for your records. The OhioLINK office will retain a partial offline archive of the Ex Libris Basecamps for a minimum of 5 years. Affected Basecamp projects are:

OhioLINK Alma/Primo VE Project Implementation Archived 09/25
1 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation Project - Wave 1 Cohort 1
1.2 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation Project - Wave 1 Cohort 2
    2 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation - Wave 2
    3 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation - Wave 3
4 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation Wave 4
5 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation Wave 5
6 OhioLINK Rapido Implementation Project - Wave 6
    OhioLINK Vanguard Alma/Primo VE Implementation

Action needed! Proxy.ohiolink.edu redirect ends Sept 30

Any links to the OhioLINK shared proxy "proxy.ohiolink.edu" after September 30th will result in a "Server Not Found" error. Local library staff should identify and replace all proxy.ohiolink.edu links on web pages, A-Z lists, and/or within resource admin tools (e.g., EBSCO). These links were included in OhioLINK-provided e-resource records prior to the GO implementation. The ERIT Implementation team has received communications about this issue. More information is available in the GO FAQ.

Info Hub: How to copy NZ normalization rules to the IZ for use in local batch processing tasks

The OhioLINK central office creates and maintains normalization rules in the Network Zone (NZ). These rules may be useful for individual Institution Zones (IZ) cleanup work and other projects that require batch updates to their non-linked (local) records. For more information, see Copy Network Zone Normalization Rules to Institution Zone for Batch Processing on the Info Hub page.

Info Hub: How to create a normalization process for batch record update

Normalization processes update metadata across multiple records by applying one or more normalization rules. They can add, remove, replace, copy, or move fields and subfields in bibliographic records. For more information, see Creating a Normalization Process for Batch Record Update in Alma. Need a refresher on how to create a normalization rule? See Create and Test Normalization Rule on Individual IZ Bibliographic Records. The Info Hub page is a great resource for “how to” info.
