Upcoming Watch Me Work sessions
On August 25, 11:00AM-12:00 PM, join the Cataloging & Metadata Working Group’s Watch Me Work session where Michelle Hahn (Ohio University) and Masha Stepanova (Ohio State University) will demonstrate some cataloging basics in Alma, including a variety of possible actions regarding getting bibliographic records into Alma, working with them once they are there, and operating in multiple zones simultaneously. Register here.
On August 26, 1:00-2:00 PM, join the Reporting & Analytics Working Group’s “Watch Me Work” session where members will share questions and plans for approaching the upcoming ACRL statistical survey during this transition from Sierra to Alma. Register here.
On August 28, 10-11AM, join the Circulation & Resource Sharing Working Group with presenter Scott Trimmer of Cuyahoga Community College to learn about Using Item Policies as the Basis for Fulfillment Unit Loan Rules. Scott will review the setup of a Fulfillment Unit with locations that have different Terms of Use (TOU), help you understand Fulfillment Unit Rules, and cover standardized naming conventions for Rule Name and Rule Description. Register here.
SearchOhio paused Aug. 1
Just a reminder. For those OhioLINK libraries who have encouraged students and faculty to also utilize local public library collections, SearchOhio, the public library consortium, will be unavailable from Aug 1 through the end of October. The consortium will be implementing an upgrade to its consortial borrowing software. Students and faculty with questions should contact their preferred public library’s circulation desk for assistance.
Ongoing call for crowdsourced content
Even though we’re live, let’s continue to work together to help the entire OhioLINK community by crowdsourcing Alma/Primo/Rapido training, documentation and communication materials and Primo VE code and customizations. Check out what’s been contributed here.
“Save the Date” for New Directors Orientation, Oct 17
Please save the date for the New Directors Orientation on October 17. Each year OhioLINK hosts an orientation session for new leadership at member libraries. This event is particularly beneficial for library directors who are new to Ohio and unfamiliar with OhioLINK, although it has also been well-received as a valuable review for experienced staff too. We encourage all new leaders to attend this informative, in-person event. Details regarding this meeting will be shared via the All-Directors listserv. If you have any questions, please contact Tasha Bryant-Willis.
