LSP Migration
- Register for the LSP General Systems Administration & Security Working Group open session, “Managing Users and User Roles,” January 7 at 3PM. Details below.
- Register for the Walk Through the Go Live Checklist: Acquisitions (Physical Ordering and Receiving), January 8 at 11AM. Details below.
- The LSP E-Resource Management Working Group will host an open discussion January 28 at 3PM about the migration to Alma and what it means for e-resources on your campus.
- The recording for the Training & Documentation Working Group’s Getting Everyone on Board the Alma Train: Engaging and Training Staff is available on Ostaff.
- OhioLINK is working with Deans, Directors and LSP Project Leads on registration for 2-days of regional, in-person Ex Libris training in February that cover technical services and public services. A virtual training option will be offered too.
- Rapido training has started for some libraries. These trainings will align with go-live waves. Rapido is the tool that will replace INN-Reach lending (PCIRC) in Alma/ Primo. Please check the Upcoming LSP Meeting and Events section on Ostaff for the Rapido Wave 2 Kick-Off.
- Your LSP Project Lead can address any LSP question or concern.

OhioLINK office closed January 1
The OhioLINK central office will be closed January 1st. If you need to report an emergency outage during this period, please contact the OARnet 24/7 Service Desk at 1-800-627-6420. When doing so, kindly identify your report as an OhioLINK issue and provide them with the name of your institution and your contact information. For all other inquiries and non-emergency matters, please email OhioLINK Support or complete the support form on our website. We will respond as promptly as possible on January 2nd.
ACM contract ending December 31
After thorough analysis and discussion, the Cooperative Information Resources Management (CIRM) Policy Team has recommended, and the Library Advisory Council has approved, the cancellation of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) contract. The ACM collection is part of the Electronic Journal Center (EJC). After January 1, 2025, OhioLINK libraries that participate in the EJC will continue to have access to previously purchased e-journal content. In addition, ACM open access content is available at ACM’s site. Updated information can be found at the Ostaff e-resources pages. Your institution’s E-resources Implementation Team (ERIT) members or CIRM representatives can answer any questions about the decision and its potential impact.
New Resource: Sage Skills available now through trial
On January 1, 2025, OhioLINK will be adding a new resource to support students’ academic and business skills. Students and faculty can navigate thousands of fundamental skills presented through written material, interactive scenarios, self-assessments, downloadable datasets, worksheets, and video. Workplace-readiness focused Sage Skills: Business and academic focused Sage Skills: Student Success are currently available via trial through OhioLINK’s Research Databases list. You can find FAQs for librarians (with Ostaff login) and FAQs for faculty (no login needed) on Ostaff. An earlier webinar is available on Ostaff.

Managing Users & User Roles, Jan 7, 3PM
Please register to attend the LSP General Systems Administration & Security Working Group’s open session on managing users and user roles in Alma on January 7th, 3-4 p.m. Panelists Kevin Cretsos (University of Dayton), Leigh Duncan (Wright State University), and David W. Green (State Library of Ohio) will cover the key differences between user account types, how to configure user roles effectively, and how to use Role Profiles to streamline your workflow. Additionally, we’ll provide a brief demonstration of using Alma Analytics to audit your named users and their roles. This session will be recorded.

Understanding the Value of OhioLINK through a Collections Lens, Jan 16, 11AM
In 2024, OhioLINK and economist Howard Fleeter completed an analysis of the value of OhioLINK’s shared collections for its members, including core ejournal and ebook agreements, as well as shared print. The analysis outlines a significant value to member institutions. Members of OhioLINK’s CIRM (collection development) committee will discuss the results of the analysis in the context of OhioLINK’s shared collections principles. In addition, librarians from the committee will outline how they evaluate their collections in context with OhioLINK’s shared collections and how they select and connect their communities to the information resources they need.

The Electronic Resource Management LSP Working Group invites those who work directly with electronic resources, as well as any other interested library staff, to join us for an unstructured, open discussion about the migration to Alma and what it means for E-Resources both within the consortium and on your campus. OSU Health Sciences librarian honored with national “I Love My Librarian” award
Congratulations to Missy Creed of The Ohio State University Health Sciences Library for being chosen by ALA as one of 10 outstanding librarians from across the country. Nearly 1,300 library users nominated their favorite librarians. Honorees were selected for their outstanding public service accomplishments. Read more about Missy and her role in educating patients and their families, Wexner Medical Center staff, and the public to help everyone better understand health conditions and treatments.
