LSP Migration
- Jan 22: Please register for the next Go Live Checklist: Resource Management (Individual Record Actions), Jan 22, 11 AM. Details below.
- Jan 28: The LSP E-Resource Management Working Group will host an open discussion January 28 at 3PM about the migration to Alma and what it means for e-resources on your campus. Details below.
- Jan 29: Please register here for the LSP DUX Working Group’s “Planning User Experience Testing in Primo VE” session on Jan 29, 10-11AM. Details below.
- There are two new micro-learning videos: Alma Inventory and Alma Zones, Part 1.
- In-person Ex Libris training on track for February. Attendance decisions were made through Deans and Directors and LSP Project Leads. A virtual training option will be offered later, with recordings available.
- The first cohort of “Alma D” has begun. Alma Digital is the Alma application that manages digital (owned) resources. Cohort calls will be posted on Ostaff.
- The 2nd & 3rd waves of Rapido training for LSP Project Leads have started. Rapido is the tool that will replace INN-Reach lending (PCIRC) in Alma/ Primo. Training will align with go-live waves.
- The recording for “Walk Through the Go Live Checklist: Acquisitions (electronic ordering, activating and invoicing for physical & electronic resources)” has been added to Ostaff.
- An OhioLINK Alma/Primo Go Live checklist has been added to Ostaff. This document, for personal use, compiles 49 skills to master by go live and tracks to the “Walk Through” demonstrations.
- Your LSP Project Lead can address any LSP question or concern.

Save the Date! Open CIRM meeting, Feb 7, 10 AM
OhioLINK library staff are invited to attend the annual open CIRM (collection development) Policy Team meeting on Friday, February 7 at 10AM-12PM via WebEx. RSVP by February 4 at 5:00PM. The agenda and WebEx login information will be sent on February 5 to those who RSVP. Please contact April Levy with questions.
New Resource: Sage Skills
On January 1, 2025, OhioLINK will be adding a new resource to support students’ academic and business skills. Students and faculty can navigate thousands of fundamental skills presented through written material, interactive scenarios, self-assessments, downloadable datasets, worksheets, and video. Workplace-readiness focused Sage Skills: Business and academic focused Sage Skills: Student Success are currently available via trial through OhioLINK’s Research Databases list. You can find FAQs for librarians (with Ostaff login) and FAQs for faculty (no login needed) on Ostaff. An earlier webinar is available on Ostaff.
ACM contract has ended
After thorough analysis and discussion, the Library Advisory Council approved the Cooperative Information Resources Management (CIRM) Policy Team’s recommendation to cancel the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) contract as of December 31, 2024. OhioLINK libraries that participate in the EJC will continue to have access to previously purchased e-journal content. In addition, ACM open access content is available at ACM’s site. Updated information can be found at the Ostaff e-resources pages. Your institution’s E-resources Implementation Team (ERIT) members or CIRM representatives can answer any questions about the decision and its potential impact.

Go Live Checklist: Resource Management (Individual Record Actions), Jan 22, 11 AM
Please register for the next go live checklist demonstration on January 22 from 11AM-12PM. Each of the 10 go-live checklist “walkthroughs” begins with a demonstration followed by time for questions. Attendees are welcome to login to their Alma to follow along. Note that we will not be troubleshooting log in, user permissions, or other Alma problems that are not related to the session topic. These topics will be covered. Are you able to:
- create bibliographic records manually (e.g., original cataloging)?
- import new records individually (e.g., via Connexion, external search resources)?
- create local e-resources? (taken from GLR “Acquisitions” section--#6)
- overlay/merge brief bib records with full bibliographic records?
OhioLINK compiled all 49 skills that will be demonstrated in the 10 go-live “walkthroughs” in a Checklist document, which links skills to the dates for the Walkthrough Checklist sessions.
E-Resource Management LSP Working Group Open Discussion, Jan 28, 3PM
The Electronic Resource Management LSP Working Group invites those who work directly with electronic resources, as well as any other interested library staff, to join us for an unstructured, open discussion about the migration to Alma and what it means for E-Resources both within the consortium and on your campus. Bring your questions and plans for the upcoming data load and technical freeze on January 28th at 3pm. Please feel free to submit questions or topics for discussion in advance. Planning User Experience Testing in Primo VE, Jan 29, 10AM
Please register here for the Discovery and User Experience Working Group’s open session, “Planning User Experience Testing in Primo VE” on January 29 at 10-11AM. Are you currently planning or conducting User Experience (UX) testing in Primo VE? Interested but unsure where to start? Just thinking about UX testing stressing you out? Whether or not you have a dedicated UX team or any plan for user testing, you are invited to this session to learn what your colleagues are doing, get ideas for questions you could be asking, share your plans, and ask questions. Josie Cotton of Case Western Reserve University and Zeb Wimsatt of Oberlin College will share how their institutions are approaching User Experience Testing. The session will be recorded.

On January 16, Cooperative Information Resources Management Team (CIRM) members Brian Gray of University of Cincinnati, Karen Greever of Kenyon College, Jeff Grossman of Xavier University, Sean Kennedy of Kent State University, and Joanna Voss of OhioLINK discussed the 2024 Value of OhioLINK report in the context of OhioLINK’s shared collections principles and outline how they evaluate and select their institution’s collections and connect their communities to the information resources needed. A minor release for the ETD Center may include brief downtime on Wednesday, January 22 from 5-7 a.m. Users will see a standard “system down” message on the website during that time.

NOTSL Scholarship application deadline is Feb 14
Applications for the 2025 Northern Ohio Technical Services Librarians (NOTSL) Scholarships are being accepted until February 14. The purpose of NOTSL scholarships is to support educational activities in library technical services for applicants at any point in their careers and/or degree programs. Individual awards will not exceed $1500, and scholarship(s) will be awarded at the discretion of the NOTSL Scholarship Committee.
