Cory Tressler, the Assistant Dean for Technology and Digital Programs at Ohio State University Libraries, talks about how the University Libraries is using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve digital accessibility. In April 2024, the Department of Justice updated the federal rules for digital accessibility under Title II. The University Libraries faced the daunting task of remediating millions of pages of PDFs and generating Alt Text for hundreds of thousands of images in its collections. To help meet these new rules more efficiently, the University Libraries explored AI to enable automation to meet accessibility standards within the updated rules. Attendees learned how the University Libraries is approaching this challenge and what they have achieved so far.
