Announcements
Introducing Auth25
Auth25 is a set of changes that replace the OhioLINK authentication system used by the EBC, EJC, and Music Center with our GO service. This means that off-campus, unproxied access to the EBC, EJC, and Music Center will be provided through your institution's proxy, similar to other e-resources. OhioLINK will communicate Auth25 details with ERIT over the next few weeks as we prepare for releases in May. Learn more about Auth25 on Ostaff.
Training and Documentation Working Group call for crowdsourced content
Has your library created Alma/Primo/Rapido training and documentation, content related to circulation, Rapido, or student/faculty communications/instructional materials that you could share with the OhioLINK community? The Training and Documentation Working Group invites you to contribute to a “crowdsourced” collection of resources that could be adapted by other OhioLINK libraries. Use this form to upload a file or send a link to existing web resources.
Alma Primo office hours on Weds.
OhioLINK will be holding open Alma Primo office hours each Wednesday in April from 11AM-12PM. The Webex link will not change for the dates in April. Registration is not required, and people may join/leave at any point. We’ll spend the hour answering questions; there will not be a set presentation. The calls will not be recorded. Each office hours date will be in the LSP Calendar and reminders for upcoming dates will be in the LSP Update section of Weekly Updates. Dates and topics include:
- April 23: Acquisitions (funds, ledgers, vendors, order workflow, physical receiving, invoicing) and cataloging (MDE functions, search external resources, OCLC integration profile, publishing profiles, import profiles)
- April 30: E-resources and Primo VE (activating electronic resources, managing electronic resources, working with Primo VE search profiles, making changes to Primo VE views, updating Primo VE labels, working with Primo VE interoperability tools)
DUX open call: How Will They Find It? Configuring Search Scopes, Profiles, and Slots, Apr 23, 10AM
Please register for the Discovery and User Experience Working Group open call on April 23 at 10AM. Search scopes, profiles, and slots are powerful tools to help guide your users to content in Primo VE but choosing and configuring these can be tricky. We will clarify how to use scopes, profiles, and slots while providing inspiration for those thinking about their own customizations. Laney Knight will provide a technical overview of search scopes, profiles, and slots and will offer details about the OhioLINK slot, CDI scope settings for eBook results, and Newspaper search. Aja Bettencourt-McCarthy, co-chair of the DUX Working Group, will share her experience developing custom scopes at the University of Cincinnati. There will be Q&A and discussion.
Differing approaches for rolling out Alma, Primo VE, and Rapido, May 6, 2PM
Please register here for a panel discussion with Working Group chairs Susan Ashby of University of Akron, Megan Kickbush of Xavier University, and Chris Hudson of Kenyon College on a wide range of rollout topics, such as:
- when your librarians will begin to use Alma
- how to handle transitioning accounts from Sierra to Primo
- approaches and timing for rolling out Primo VE for discovery
- communications for students, faculty, and staff
- timing for updating instructional materials
- and more!
This session will be recorded.
Changes to OA publishing in Wiley fully open access journals begin May 17
Wiley is changing its processes for applying for APC coverage in its fully open access journals on May 17. Hybrid journals are not affected. With this change, requests for APC coverage made at submission are provisional until allocation availability and institutional affiliation are reconfirmed following acceptance for publication. More information is available on Ostaff for librarians and for authors (no Ostaff account needed). View the recording of OhioLINK Wiley New Gold Open Access Author Workflow (for Librarians) on Ostaff.
INN-Reach print lending pauses May 23
As part of our shift from INN-Reach to Rapido for print lending, users will not be able to place new requests through the Central Catalog or the SearchOhio catalog starting May 23 at 5pm. Lending will resume with other OhioLINK libraries as we go live on Alma. Lending with SearchOhio libraries will resume in fall 2025. Users with currently checked out materials will not be able to renew. OhioLINK and SearchOhio have placed messages on catalog search pages. See more on the Resource Sharing Milestones page.

New EBSCOhost User Interface Q&A, May 7, 10AM
Have questions about the new EBSCOhost User Interface? EBSCO representatives will be available to answer OhioLINK librarians’ questions on May 7 at 10 a.m. Please register here. If your library has not yet migrated, EBSCO recommends having access to your institution’s preview of the new EBSCOhost UI ahead of attending the session. If you are unable to attend on May 7, EBSCO has also added an additional public Q&A session to their schedule to accommodate OhioLINK libraries on May 6 at 2 p.m. Register here for the May 6 “Get to Know the New EBSCOhost.”
The recording of the April 8 “Using EBSCO Experience Manager for Administrators” is now available. The EBSCOhost User Interface Migration page on Ostaff has also been updated with additional resources provided by EBSCO following last week’s webinars.
