Columbus State’s Business Management Programs is dedicated to developing well rounded management and entrepreneurial candidates that can compete and add value to a variety of industries. Students who pursue the Associate Degree of Applied Science will complete a core curriculum with emphasis on developing strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. Additionally the Business Management Program offers opportunities for students to focus their skill development on growth oriented specialties such as Project Management, Operations, Nonprofit Management, and a host of specialty service areas in Entrepreneurship. Throughout the program students will focus on developing skills as a practitioner using the most current techniques and technologies which will allow them to excel with their current employer, begin a new professional career, or transfer to a Bachelor’s program with our four year college partners. The Project Management Certificate students will gain a basic understanding of project management and ancillary areas such as cost accounting and ethics to studying the latest Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) at the completion of the certificate. The final capstone course allows students to assume the role a Project Manager in a simulation whereby students make decisions in a fluid realistic environment to reach their project milestones. This certificate will greatly enhance a student’s credentials or may serve as a platform to gain Project Management Institute (PMI) industry credentials such as the CAP-M or PMP. As project management is a field in high demand across all types of industries, employers will be able to see the value of this certification. Non-degree seeking students as well as Associate Degree candidates may pursue this valuable credential. Course Learning Options: The Business Management Program offers many course format and modalities for traditional, adult, and long distance learners. Course offerings may include 8 week sequences as well as 15 week and 10 week format both during the day and in the evening at our main campus Delaware campus and Regional Centers. Blended course formats allow for quality instruction in the classroom to complete interactive activities and discuss difficult concepts, while assessments and other assignments are completed on-line through the Learning Management System (LMS). On-line or distance learning courses are primarily asynchronous where students can complete interactive content without coming to campus except for assessments in some cases. Many of our on-line courses also integrate web conferencing where students are required to participate in teams, attend lecture discussions or present projects. Such synchronous participation is flexibly scheduled to meet the many demands of today’s busy adult learner. Overall the Business Management Program strives to offer similar quality experiences and content coverage in small classes despite the course delivery method. The Business Management Program and faculty focus on continuous improvement across the curriculum updating technology delivery methods and discipline content to ensure every Columbus State student receives quality education. The Business Management program has achieved voluntary accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) demonstrating it has met standards of business education that promote teaching excellence.
