FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OhioLINK has been approved for membership in the National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) by the Digital Library Federation Coordinating Committee. Being part of the NDSA is one of many components of OhioLINK’s new Digital Preservation Program for shared digital resources. Membership allows OhioLINK to be part of a national group of organizations partnering to ensure the stewardship and preservation of digital resources.

Through his research on anaerobic organisms that grow in the human intestine, Miami University Associate Professor of Microbiology Dr. D.J. Ferguson is working toward a cure for heart disease. Ferguson’s widely published research explores how these organisms break down common compounds during the digestive process. Some of the organisms convert these compounds into other compounds that lead to atherosclerosis, a leading cause of heart disease, while other gut organisms do not.

Judith Cobb, OhioLINK’s digital curation coordinator, is the newest member to join the team. A librarian at heart, Cobb has spent many years working in library services. Prior to joining OhioLINK, Cobb spent over a decade at OCLC (Online Computer Library Center Inc.), most recently as a product manager for digital collection services.

Jason Belitsky, Ph.D.

As a small institution, Oberlin College has much to gain from sharing. Jason Belitsky, professor of chemistry, knows this well, as he has shared both resources and research with his students. Belitsky imparts on his students the value of OhioLINK for journal articles and books.

Columbus, Ohio – Representatives from eStudent Services will attend the Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning Assistance’s (ACTLA) 42nd annual convention April 20-23.

Karen Boyd, assistant director of the eTutoring Collaborative, and Mitch Wilson, program coordinator, have been invited to present their perspectives on the success of the Ohio eTutoring Collaborative. eStudent Services is a member-organization of the Ohio Technology Consortium, the technology and information division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE).

Charles T. Saunders, Ph.D., began using OhioLINK resources while working on his Ph.D. in Workforce Development and Education at The Ohio State University. Now, as chair of the Forensic Accounting, Business Forensics and Information Systems Audit Programs at Franklin University, he uses OhioLINK resources for both teaching and professional development.

Libby Davis, one of OhioLINK’s student interns, helps implement marketing strategies through social media as well as assists with various office tasks. The Columbus native has been working with OhioLINK since high school.

As a third-year student majoring in marketing at Ohio State, she has found her passion while working at OhioLINK and plans to continue on the marketing path after graduation.

Libby recently discussed with OhioLINK her plans for after graduation, her involvement in clubs at Ohio State and the reason you will never hear her sing in front of a crowd.

John Brogan is working to find, and blur, the border between art and science. A senior at Case Western Reserve University, Brogan has already become a seasoned traveler, authored two books and partnered with the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for a research project. Brogan is studying cognitive science, which he describes as a blend of psychology and philosophy, taken within the lens of a hard science.

Brooklyn Ludlow is one of two student interns currently working at OhioLINK. As a third-year student at The Ohio State University, she has two rare and vastly different passions: Brooklyn is earning a major in jazz composition and a minor in computer information sciences.

Before coming to OSU, Brooklyn and a friend had their own business doing live sound setup for bands and events. They used their own equipment and worked as sound and lighting engineers and DJs.
